What is Adenosylcobalamin?
Adenosylcobalamin (AdCbl) is one three naturally occurring forms of Vitamin B12 and a coenzyme critical to L-methylmalonyl-CoA mutase activity. The L-methylmalonyl-CoA mutase enzyme is required for breaking down branched-chain amino acids and odd-chain fatty acids.
This form of AdCbl is used by the body to support the Krebs cycle and energy production. The Krebs cycle is the process in which sugars and other molecules are broken down to release energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Because ATP delivers energy to all cells throughout the body, AdCbl is critical to this cycle. All living things need a continual supply of energy to function.
Why is my urine bright yellow after taking this product?
Your urine may be bright yellow after taking B vitamins because they are water soluble. Whatever your body doesn’t use it flushes out. We recommend taking B vitamins with food, so they move more slowly through your digestive tract which gives your body more time to absorb them.
Why can’t I get my nutrients from my food?
Soil: Commercial soil has been depleted of its natural nutrients and minerals due to large scale farming techniques. A tip to get a little extra boost of nutrients from your food is to eat organic or free range, because that soil is less likely to have been stripped, sprayed, or modified for mass production.
Sugar: The body uses up your hard-earned nutrients and minerals to process sugar and processed foods. Another way to boost your nutrient profile naturally is to eat fewer of these foods so you don’t use up your reserves!
Cooking: In some cases, the way we prepare our food also depletes the nutrients. Depending on the food – cooking, baking, roasting, microwaving, reheating, freezing, or boiling can damage the nutrients and decrease their nutritional value. A tip to get the most out of your food is to use different cooking methods: a little raw and a little roasted will give that diversity to your gut.
Why do I need more nutrients at certain times in life?
Aging: As we age our body needs more nutrients to accomplish the same tasks, and it gets harder to absorb those nutrients both from food and vitamins. A multivitamin with ingredients specifically designed for easy absorption is a good way to help fill in those gaps.
Athletes: For the athletes out there, your body is using more nutrients than the average person! You need some extra minerals and nutrients to supplement your diet. It’s also a good idea to supplement with protein to support your workout routine.
Illness:For anyone with chronic illness, digestive issues, or healing from a recent surgery – your body is working overtime to help you heal! It needs all the nutrients it can get to support the extra work it’s doing. If digestive issues are a factor, you also aren’t absorbing well. And some medications can further block absorption of nutrients. Adding a multivitamin with easy absorption will give you extra support without the extra work of converting poorly designed ingredients.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding: you now need nutrients for TWO people! It’s hard enough getting nutrients for one, now you have another whole body to consider. Taking a multivitamin will not only give you more energy to take care of your newest addition, but you will be passing on those nutrients to their little body as well.
Do I need to take other supplements if I am taking a multivitamin?
A multivitamin will give you a broad array of nutrients but in some cases your body just needs a larger amount of something that we can’t fit into two capsules. Calcium and magnesium are two that come to mind. Your body needs larger quantities of those for all the processes and structures that use them, so we recommend taking a separate supplement to address those requirements.
Here’s a few hundred other reasons why adding these basics will give you a healthy foundation:
Magnesium Glycinate for the 300+ processes in your body that use it
Calcium for the 206 bones that carry you into new adventures
Omega-3 for your 30 trillion skin, heart, and brain cells that need healthy fats to function
Bifido Balance (probiotic) to support the 20+ feet of intestines you house in your torso
Vitamin D for the 200 days a year it’s too cold to soak in the sun (if you are in a northern state like us!)
