The Benefits of CoQ10

Have you heard of CoQ10and wondered why it’s important? For starters, Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) helps generate energy in every one of our cells. As people age, they produce less CoQ10.

So CoQ10 is vital for our energy levels, and it’s alsoa strong antioxidant that helps protect our cells from free radicals, which can damage our cells and may result in health problems. The best source of CoQ10 is organ meat, which is often not a favorite choice for most people, but pork, beef, chicken, and certain fatty fish are also good sources.

Here are just a few ways CoQ10 may benefit our bodies:

  • Supports heart health
  • Helps boost energy and stamina
  • Fights free radical damage
  • Supports gum health
  • Helps boost the immune system

Supplementing with CoQ10 may be particularly helpful for people taking cholesterol-lowering statin medication. Some studies have found that CoQ10 may be helpful in reducing the muscle aches, fatigue and memory concerns that often occur with statin medication.1

Clinical studies have shown CoQ10 to be effective in supporting gum health and in reducing inflammation. For a closer look at the research, check out the study on COQ10 below.2

Supplementing with CoQ10

Our nutritionists often suggest supplementing with 100 or 200 mg daily for heart health and increasing energy. You’ll start to notice CoQ10 working if you feel more energetic with less muscle pain.

A Note on Supplement Quality

At NutriKey we only carry pharmaceutical-grade supplements that meet a robust list of standards and are third-party tested (more on that here if you’re interested). They are well absorbed and free of contaminants, fillers, and additives.
