Biotic 7 is a seven-strain probiotic, containing six of the most researched strains of bacteria (20 billion CFUs total), plus 2 billion CFUs of saccharomyces boulardii. Saccharomyces boulardii is a non-pathogenic yeast that cleans out other pathogens (bad microbes) in the gut so the good strains of bacteria can then colonize the intestinal tract instead.
The Biotic 7 capsules are made of a digestive-resistant complex, making it is a delayed release. This means that these critical microbes can withstand transit through the harsh stomach and upper intestinal environments and get deposited in the appropriate area of the digestive tract.
Research has exploded in recent years surrounding the intestinal flora and its importance to our everyday health. We need enough good bacteria (probiotics) in our digestive tract to have optimal breakdown and absorption of our food. Clinical evidence suggest probiotics may:

Why should I start slow when taking a probiotic?
Killing off harmful bacteria in your gut is one of the benefits of probiotics. You may not feel well when you first start taking probiotics because, as it dies, the harmful bacteria will release toxins in your body. This is known as a "die off reaction" or Herxheimer Reaction. Common symptoms of die off are diarrhea, bloating, and headache. As your body is working to flush out the dead bacteria and toxins, it can feel as if your symptoms are temporarily getting worse, which can be alarming, but it does get better! Symptoms go away as the toxins are flushed out and as you build up your healthy gut bacteria. We recommend starting slow when first taking probiotics to minimize die off symptoms.
